Lavender
Lavender has been known for its calming properties for centuries. Its soothing fragrance can help to reduce anxiety, promote relaxation and aid in restful sleep. Sleep of course is one of the most important aspects of good spiritual hygiene. Research have shown that lavender is effective at reducing indoor air pollution. The plant was found to remove harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the air. VOCs are common indoor pollutants that can cause a variety of health problems, in particular respiratory issues such as asthma, allergy reactions and bronchitis. Lavender is also a natural insect repellent and can be used to keep moths and mosquitoes at bay. It’s easy to grow and care for, and can be kept indoors as well as outdoors, though if you’re keeping it outdoors you may want to keep it in a container to help keep it under control.
Aloe Vera
A succulent plant that is known for its healing properties. It has been used for centuries to treat various ailments. It used to soothe minor burns, cuts and other skin irritations. Aloe Vera is also said to boost immunity and reduce inflammation. It is also an excellent plant for purifying the air in your home. Aloe Vera is a low-maintenance plant that is easy to care for and is perfect for those who want to add a touch of greenery to their home.
Peace Lily
The Peace Lily is a beautiful plant with white flowers that symbolize peace and tranquility. It’s believed to be one of the best air purify plants around. NASA’s Clean Air Study in 1989 found that the Peace Lily is effective at removing a variety of common indoor air pollutants including benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and ammonia. These pollutants can potentially cause a variety of respiratory issues that are best avoided, such as asthma or allergy reactions. The Peace Lily is a great plant for putting in rooms in which you spend a lot of time because it’s easy to grow and care for and can be kept in low light areas. It’s also quite good at letting you know when it needs watering.
Jasmine
Jasmine is a beautiful plant with delicate flowers and a sweet fragrance. It’s believed to have a calming effect on the mind and body and can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Jasmine is also believed to attract positive energy and can be used in meditation and prayer. It’s easy to care for and can be kept in a sunny spot indoors.
Snake Plant
The Snake Plant is a succulent plant with long, narrow leaves that are often variegated with green and white. Snake plants are easy to care for and make an excellent choice for beginner gardeners or for those who don’t have a lot of time to devote to plant care. The snake plant is one of the best air purifying plants according to a study by NASA. It was found to be effective in absorbing harmful gases like carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and nitrogen oxides from the air. The Snake Plant is also known for its ability to produce oxygen at night, making it a great plant to keep in the bedroom. It’s easy to care for and can be kept in low light areas.
Bamboo
Bamboo is a fast-growing plant that is known for its strength and resilience. It is also an excellent plant for promoting positive energy and good luck in your home. Bamboo is often used in Feng-Shui practices to bring balance and harmony to the environment. It is a low-maintenance and very fast growing plant that is perfect for those who want to add a touch of natural greenery to their home.
Spider Plant
Spider plants are not only easy to look after they are also great at purifying the air. They help to remove various household toxins such as carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and xylene from the air. This makes them ideal for bedrooms and offices. Spider plants are also believed to boost energy levels, reduce stress, boost cognitive function and memory – although much of this is likely to be down to the relaxing properties of plants in your environment rather than anything specific to spider plants.
Summary
Keeping and looking after plants in your home can provide numerous benefits for your spiritual well-being. Plants such as Lavender, Aloe Vera, Peace Lily, Jasmine and Snake Plant are easy to grow and care for and also have some great air purifying properties which can help to create a calming and peaceful environment. Bringing these plants into your home is a great way to help promote a positive and healthy lifestyle and helps bring you back to nature on those times when you can’t get outside for whatever reason.
